DID YOU KNOW...

  • As of August 2004, Lubbock County has the ninth highest poverty rate in the United States (US Census Bureau)

  • According to the Catholic Charities USA, 81% of the agencies site an increase in the working poor seeking help.

  • Without volunteers and donations, the Emergency Assistance Program would not be able to meet its mission.

The Emergency Assistance Program assists low-income individuals and families with food, prescription medications, rent utilities, eye exams, and basic dental care.  The EA Program has its own Food and Hygiene Pantry making it more convenient for people to take care of their needs at one destination.

The EA program relies heavily on volunteers to conduct intakes for food, rent, prescription, and clothing assistance.  The volunteers also work in the pantry organizing the donations and handing out the food.  When you are an EA volunteer, you are part of the Living Social Gospel (as contained in Matthew 25:40) "Whenever you did it for one the least important of these, you did it for me".

"God is always there for us.  He always opens a door".

Virginia Alamanza - Emergency Assistance Coordinator (for the past 27+ years)
