DID YOU KNOW...

  • Lubbock County averages 1 reported rape per day.

  • The Lubbock area leads the state in confirmed cases of child abuse and neglect.

  • At least, 1 in every three women has been beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused during her lifetime.

  • Nationwide, almost half of all marriages end in divorce.

The Adult and Family Counseling Program of Catholic Family Services is staffed by a Licensed and experienced professional counselor that provides therapy to individuals, couples, and families.  The counselor works with clients on a number of issues including: depression, anxiety disorders, substance abuse, anger management, victims of abuse, grief and loss, parenting, family or other relationship strain, and adjustment difficulties resulting from current problematic life situations.  Choices About Anger Left up to Me (C.A.A.L.M) is an Anger Management Group that is offered for those who prefer a group dynamic setting and is available to both men and women.

During the past year, 300 persons were served through the Adult and Family Counseling Program.  Although the majority of counseling clients lived in households above the poverty level, approximately 20% of these clients came from households that lacked health insurance and had income levels that qualified them as "working poor".  The Adult and Family Counseling Program offers a sliding fee scale for services, but no one is denied counseling based on their inability to pay.
