CFS will celebrate 25th
Anniversary
Catholic Family
Service, Inc. (CFS) will celebrate its 25th anniversary
at a special event to mark this milestone in the organization’s
history. This Catholic Charities agency serves people in need in
Lubbock and 29 other counties of the South Plains of Texas,
assisting approximately 27,000 people each year through its various
programs. Current and former Board and committee members, staff,
volunteers and supporters of CFS will gather on Friday, October 23,
2009, at Christ the King Cathedral, and will prayerfully reflect on
the growth of CFS from its early days. Participants will be
challenged to respond with even greater charity and resourcefulness
to current and future needs throughout the South Plains area.
Catholic Family Service provides help and hope to individuals and
families in need regardless of race/ethnicity, religion or gender.
The primary programs of CFS include: Emergency Assistance (help
with food, medications, rent, utilities, dental and eye care, and
transportation), the Resale Center (assisting with clothing,
furniture and household items), Legalization services, At Risk Youth
Program, Self Sufficiency Program, Elderly Outreach, and Adult and
Family Counseling.
The Board and Staff
of CFS are most grateful to the many people who support the agency’s
mission of service to “the least among us.” This occasion of twenty
five years of service is an opportunity to celebrate all that has
been accomplished, and to look forward with hope to many years of
bringing compassionate help to those most in need on the South
Plains.
