DID YOU KNOW...

  • In the past year, the Legalization Department of CFS assisted in 1,383 people with a variety of legal services.

  • There are thousands of interested individuals in the Lubbock area wanting timely and important information on Immigration and the process of becoming U.S. Citizens.

  • CFS Legalization Caseworkers advocate for the human rights of Immigrants.

  • Immigrants earn about $240 billion and pay about $90 billion in taxes per year.  Immigrant tax payments total about $20 billion more per year than they consume in services.  (Federation of American Scientists at ww.fas.org)

The Legalization staff represents these people throughout their citizenship process.  The staff also assists children under 18 in these families to obtain their citizenship certificate.  A number of the processes the staff helps people with are to assist them in their family petitions and aid family unity.  CFS utilizes the services of volunteers in the Legalization Program, working in the reception area, translating documents, and general clerical help.  Volunteers in this program benefit by being able to practice Spanish in oral and written forms, as well as, learn some of the basics of Immigration Law.
