SERVICES PROVIDED:

  • Skills Building counseling to at-risk youth and their families

  • temporary emergency shelter

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Youth 0-17 year of age. 

INTAKE PROCEDURES:

  • Call main office and ask for youth counselor.

  • If calling from a county other that Lubbock your call will be directed to a counselor in your area.

DID YOU KNOW...

  • Between 1.6 and 2.8 million youth run away in a year.

  • 12% of runaway and homeless youth spent at least one night outside, in a park, on the street, under a bridge or overhang, or on a rooftop.

  • 32% of runaway and homeless youth have attempted suicide at some point in their lives.

  • 50% of homeless youth age 16 or older reported having dropped out of school, having been expelled, or having been suspended.

  • Runaway youth are 50% male and 50% female, although females are more likely to seek help through shelters and hotlines.

  • November is Runaway and Homeless Youth Awareness Month.

The Runaway and Homeless Youth Program of Catholic Family Service provides emergency counseling services to runaway teens or those teens contemplating running away and will locate temporary emergency shelter if necessary.

 

The RHY Program is a free program and serves a thirty county area for teens 17 and under.  The RHY and STAR Programs work together to assist teens with shelter and counseling services to reduce conflict within the family.
